Sunday, May 24th is the date of the 5th Morecambe Running Day. As in previous years a free service will operate from Carnforth to Heysham Village via Morecambe sea front from about 10.00 to 18.00. Passengers can board the buses at either end of the route and at bus stops near the Winter Gardens in Morecambe. In addition a ‘Bare Circular’ will operate using traditional double deck buses and a number of ‘mystery tours’ will operate in the afternoon using a vintage coach.

In addition to the service, buses and coaches will be on display at two locations; the promenade close to the Midland Hotel and the Festival Market car park which is opposite the Midland. The day provides a good opportunity to experience bus travel as it was in the past and to examine close up the design of vehicles which have long since ceased to operate in regular service. There will be something of an NBC theme this year as we plan to run several former Ribble buses in the colours adopted when the company became part of the National Bus Company. We hope this will include the first appearance of Park Royal bodied Atlantean 1397 after its thorough restoration.

We do have a number of guest vehicles attending this event but any owners wishing to bring a bus must arrange this with us in advance as space is very limited. Below are some photos taken on previous occasions.
