Veteran TD5 2057 has been off the road for most of 2019 as a result of excessive smoke and low power output. We’ve been extremely busy in our centenary year so there wasn’t time to address its problems. The injectors were sent away for overhaul and then we cleaned out the autovac and the fuel filter, both of which has accumulated a lot of ‘gunge’. Following a check round the bus it was taken out for a trial run yesterday and performed well. The smoke is greatly reduced (almost impossible to eliminate completely on a bus of this age) and performance is back to the correct level. More maintenance will be carried out over the winter and it should be a regular performer next year.

2057 awaits a wash after its trial run
