Plenty going on as we descend into darker days. PD2 1467 continues to be worked on and the offside panelling is almost complete. Window pans have been fitted, beading strips added and the rain deflector fitted. Our most recent addition, VR open topper 1995 has had its lower panels removed to allow replacement of rotten wood inserts (the panels are screwed into these). The framework itself is made of aluminium and is in good condition.
Another bus receiving attention is ‘tank’ 1775. We’ve noticed some excessive transmission rumble recently so the drive line has been removed and examined. It’s been decided to fit a slightly longer prop shaft to connect the (midships) gearbox to the rear axle. At the same time we’ve taken the opportunity to grease all the parts thoroughly which should make things run smoother.
