Sunday, May 17th was forecast to be a day of showers with a cool wind. It was quite cool but in the event the sun shone all day which helped make the day great success. RVPT provided many of the buses used on our services but we were supported by an excellent variety of guest vehicles provided our friends. Several visited from Scotland while others came from across Lancashire and Yorkshire. We thank them for their great support.

All our services carried good loads throughout the day but by late afternoon we heard of a problem at Heysham with large numbers waiting for buses back to Morecambe. This came about because Heysham Village was holding a festival which was well attended. The timetabled service couldn’t cope so our team moved into action. Olympian 2101, Leopard 811 and Standerwick VRLL 60 all ran empty to Heysham to clear the backlog. The last two were not intended to be in service on the day so caused surprise, and in many cases delight, by doing a trip.

All told it was a very successful day and we certainly hope to repeat it next year. Meantime please take a look at our Events Page to see what else we’re planning to do this year.
