This year’s event at Lytham Hall enjoyed warm sunshine and attracted many visitors. A wide range of past operators were represented by the vintage buses including our own. All were immaculate and performed perfectly.
Free services ran every 10 minutes between the Hall and St Annes via Lytham town centre and Fairhaven. There was a good selection of half cab buses in service, something that is getting less common these days at some events. The photographs give an impression of the day and good quality videos are available on YouTube.
The overall shot of the Hall includes a Bedford OB and a recently restored Leyland PD2 from the Liverpool Corporation fleet. Also visible is a Darwen Corporation Leyland and a partial view of the oldest bus on show, a 1931 Leyland Lion from the Ribble fleet. Not surprisingly open toppers were popular including our Bristol VR. Our 1956 Leyland PD2 1467 always carries good loads and the photo provides a good view of the period adverts which have been added quite recently. The local municipal operators, Lytham / Fylde and Blackpool were represented and our photo shows Blackpool 512.
All in all an excellent day which we hope will be repeated next year.
A reminder that our next ‘public’ day will be Saturday, August 8th when we will be having an event jointly with the Ribble Steam railway. Steam trains will be operating on the railway and our buses will run from the railway to our depot in Freckleton where you will be able to see our operation. Please note: there is no parking at our depot so please start your journey from the railway.
